THE PROJECT
The EU brings together twenty-seven different countries to form a collective where they can have a base for regulating social policies and addressing issues of concern to the European continent. Arguably, the overshadowing achievement is the creation of the Eurozone in 1999, the common currency used by many in the EU. Behind these accomplishments lie the fundamental ideas of John Maynard Keynes: government intervention is necessary to maintain a stabilized economy. I intend to look at the fiscal and monetary policies of the EU and its member states and critique them through the perspective of Keynes.
